Since its inception in 2018, the BGR Durian Festival & Awards has consistently positioned itself as a premier platform for the durian community—bringing together growers, breeders, distributors, researchers, and enthusiasts from across ASEAN. The festival not only celebrates the King of Fruits but also uplifts agricultural standards, encourages knowledge-sharing, and strengthens agro-tourism in Malaysia. The inaugural edition featured over 30 farmers and durian experts, sparking meaningful conversations around quality, sustainability, and consumer education. Over the years, the event has grown in both scale and impact—culminating in the inclusion of signature segments such as:

The official ASEAN Record presentation was witnessed by YB Datuk Seri Haji Mohamad Bin Sabu, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security.
“Today, durian is not only the king of fruits, but also a king in the world of business. Efforts to promote and elevate durian through festivals like this are vital in driving the high-value agricultural sector, opening up more opportunities for farmers, logistics operators, retailers, and tourism — ultimately contributing to the people’s economy,” said YB Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu in his address.
Held annually at Bangi Farm Resort, the festival has played a pivotal role in turning Bangi into a key destination for durian lovers and agro-tourism. Its blend of community-driven programming and industry-grade competition criteria has set a benchmark for durian-focused events across the region.
The 6th BGR Durian Festival & Awards, held in conjunction with the ASEAN Records 5th Gather of Achievers, once again proved to be a vibrant gathering of tradition, taste, and recognition. It served not just as a celebration of Malaysian durians, but also as a showcase of ASEAN’s shared love for this unique fruit.
